Press Releases
by jyoung | July 21, 2010 08:31:02 AMPixelActive will be back at SIGGRAPH next week. A lot has happened since we exhibited two years ago. We've signed many customers, partnered with several industry leaders, and our Pearl River Necklace video broke a half million views. Most importantly, CityScape has undergone significant improvements and upgrades over the past two years: Superior GIS import, a redesigned user interface, and dozens of features and tools to help you build cities faster, cleaner, and easier. If the last time you saw us was at SIGGRAPH 2008, be prepared for a brand new CityScape! Visit PixelActive at SIGGRAPH 2010, Booth #925Join us at SIGGRAPH 2010, July 27 - 29, Los Angeles Convention Center, booth #925, and learn how to accelerate your city modeling workflow. Stop by booth #925 to hear how PixelActive's CityScape is amplifying productivity through parametric and procedural modeling, combined with Active Adjustment technologies. Database driven geospecific cities, which used to take months to consolidate and clean, now take days. Environments go from concept art to playable demos in hours instead of weeks. Schedule a meeting at SIGGRAPH with a PixelActive Representative where you will get a one-on-one demonstration of: * Case studies on how CityScape has shortened development times on a variety of projects in the simulation, navigation/GIS, architecture, media and entertainment market. * Photo and video footage of finished projects created using PixelActive's CityScape. * Partner collaborations for joint solutions with NAVTEQ, DigitalGlobe, and Emergent Gamebryo. * How CityScape can streamline your urban project and improve your city modeling workflow. PixelActive developers and artists will be on-site to discuss your projects and how you will benefit from working with PixelActive. PixelActive Adds Resellers Motion Media, 3DV, and MoreIf you are interested in purchasing a copy of CityScape, but work with a preferred reseller, you will be happy to hear that we are constantly adding new resellers. Two of our latest resellers are Motion Media and 3DV. Here is what Brian Gorne, President of Motion Media, had to say about CityScape:"I started working with CityScape and within 20 minutes I was up and running and able to create a simple [sic] city with a background terrain and roads - the time saved just on the roads was huge. Of course I was skeptical about import into 3ds Max, but the FBX has worked perfectly! Once in 3ds Max, the objects and materials were easy to manipulate. I rendered the whole thing out in Mental Ray and got a city backdrop for a vehicle pre-viz! CityScape is an excellent time saver, and we are excited about offering it to our customers." If you are interested in connecting with one of our resellers or becoming a reseller of PixelActive products, please contact sales@pixelactive3d.com. FAAC, MPRI and Foundation 9 are Using CityScape for Better 3D CitiesBackbone Entertainment, a part of Foundation 9 Entertainment, has recently signed up to start using CityScape in their production pipeline. They join Volition, THQ, United Front Games, Sidhe Interactive, and other video game studios and publishers using CityScape to improve their games through rapid prototyping and streamlined asset pipelines. PixelActive welcomes FAAC and MPRI, two leading simulation firms, to the CityScape client list. FAAC is the world's leading supplier of accurate, high-speed weapon system simulations and MPRI, a division of L3, is a training, simulation and government services company. Valuable features to the simulation industry include CityScape's ability to import a variety of GIS formats and interactively clean up conflicting geographic data. by jyoung | June 15, 2010 09:00:53 AMTrue Crime developer United Front Games is using CityScape to build their city. Watch the interview! Summer has arrived in Carlsbad and that means our employees are enjoying the wonderful weather. But we're still hard at work on new features for CityScape. Deferred rendering and multi-channels have been well received, and this issue will introduce another new feature that will allow you to create better looking and more accurate terrains. Read on to see what's happening in our world. As always, send us an email if you have any feedback.
DigitalGlobe in CityScapeCityScape can already import orthographic imagery through our GIS importing functionality. But we thought we could make the experience even better by integrating streaming of DigitalGlobe Aerial and Satellite imagery directly in CityScape. With this integration, users can stream in high-quality orthographic imagery into their terrains for road and building tracing, GIS data validation, and texturing. CityScape caches data locally per session to minimize the amount of data requests and also constrains streaming to the terrain boundaries, ensuring that it only downloads data that you want, and nothing more. To set up a meeting for a live demo, call us at (760) 877-9969 or email sales@pixelactive3d.com. Marines Choose CityScape for Simulation ModelingMilitary simulation is a cornerstone of the modern soldier's preparation. The ability to run through a scenario dozens of times before a live mission prepares them better for dangerous situations and improves success rates. These simulations save lives and reduce uncertainty. With dynamic conflicts and natural disasters emerging constantly, the ability to quickly create geospecific environments is key to a simulation's usefulness. With CityScape, the Marines will now be able to model terrains faster and with a higher fidelity than ever. We couldn't be happier when we got this email back from one of the soldiers: "Oh, I talked to our GIS guys here on base ... I was also able to introduce them to CityScape 1.8 and they both 'bout fell over! That's a good thing! They were literally blown away by CityScape's capabilities." We are always glad to hear from another satisfied customer, especially when their goals are to save lives and keep us safe. Siggraph 2010: The People Behind the Pixel(Active)Deferred rendering, multi-channel displays, magnificent cities, and more will be on display at PixelActive's Siggraph booth. Our booth is #925, just to the right of NVIDIA. Stop by and we'll show you some of the cool tech we've been working on, and teach you how to build complex intersections like the 5/10/101/60 intersection in Los Angeles. If you have a specific project in mind, please contact us to set up a private meeting. Thank You!Thank you for being a CityScape supporter and advocate. Nighttime Rendering DemosNightime lighting and rendering, (also known as deferred rendering), is now demoing to current and prospective customers. We took a little while to do this because we wanted to get it right. CityScape's nighttime rendering will handle hundreds of headlights, streetlights, and other light sources. The renderer is completely dynamic, which means we can adjust parameters on the fly. No baked lightmaps here! It's controlled through CityScape's Astrometrics widget, so when you adjust the settings for the time of day in CityScape, the lighting reacts accordingly. To set up a meeting for a live demo, call us at +1 (760) 877-9969 or email sales@pixelactive3d.com.
