CityScape 1.8.3. Released!

CityScape 1.8.3 has been released and is immediately available for download. The changes for 1.8.3 include:

  • Support for Intel graphics. CityScape 1.8.3 now supports Intel embedded graphics chips GMA X3000 and above. This allows more users to experience the power and speed of CityScape. A drawback to using the embedded graphics chip is the lack of performance. CityScape is designed to run on a workstation, so when running CityScape with an embedded Intel graphics chip, users will not see shadows and may experience performance issues.
  • Ability to save terrains (*.cst) and projects (*.csp) in the demo version. In addition to being full featured and time unlocked, users of the CityScape demo can also save their work for later. Create beautiful cities to share with co-workers and friends. With a purchase of the full version of CityScape, terrains created in the demo can be converted to the full version to be exported and integrated into your pipeline.
  • Gamepad controller layout added. Use a controller to drive cars and fly helicopters around your new environment. A "View Controls" button has been added in the Simulation tool illustrating how to maneuver each vehicle and control the camera.
  • User data path updated. With Windows Vista and Windows 7, storing user world, terrain, and other user controlled files in the "c:\Program Files\PixelActive\" directories became an issue. With CityScape 1.8.3, the user can choose the location for the common assets during the installation process. By default, the installation will save common assets in the following places:

    Windows XP
    "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users"

    Windows Vista and 7
    "C:\Users\Public"

  • Improved stability. We've been bug hunting for the past couple of weeks, and hunting has been good. CityScape 1.8.3 is faster and more stable than earlier 1.8 releases. If you are running an older version, you will want to get the latest download.
